Demon's Souls Review

Again, I'm late to the game, but I do enjoy getting games at the Greatest Hits bargain price. Yes, this is another review for a PS3 game. This game is notorious for being a difficult game. There have been times when I've looked up info on the net just to figure out what I'm supposed to do.

Now, that may not seem that enjoyable of an aspect. I would usually agree, and this game is still a thorn in my side. That being said, it's really a fun (err...challenging...) game. The basic premice is you kill demons and get their souls, which you can then use to buy weapons, attribute points, ammo, spells, etc. The only problem is, if you die you lose the souls you've collected.

You won't lose them completely just yet. You have the opportunity to go retrieve them in a new life. If you don't retrieve them, then you lose them forever. Think that's bad? It gets worse. Sure, you could play as if you didn't care about dying, but all the enemies respawn and your weapons and armor degrade over time. So you have to reap souls just to continue at efficient levels.

The good in all of this is that the combat is fair, you have multiple ways of taking out an enemy, and once you find their weakness it will be an easier challenge as you progress in the same level. In total there's 5 different worlds, if I'm right. I haven't beaten this game. In the first world, I believe there's even 3 stages. So the game is pretty expansive.

If you are willing to submit yourself to temporary torture, then this game should be a fulfilling experience. I have enjoyed it, though it really is a love/hate relationship.
