Final Fantasy XIII Review
Okay, so I got Final Fantasy XII a few weeks ago. I know, I know...I'm late to the game. Alright, well, let me give you basically my first impressions of the game. I haven't gotten too immersed into the gameplay or completed it yet, but I'll give you a reason for that later.
Alright, so let me clarify that I'm playing this on the PS3. The graphics for this game (at least the cutscenes) are the best of any game that I have played. They are so vivid. Maybe not life-like, due to missing imperfections, but it's a game.
It's alright, I guess. Mostly it seems to be a repeating song during battles, the generic battles anyway. I believe they change it up for the boss battles and such.
Maybe it's just me, but the story is somewhat confusing. Of course, I didn't go through all the logs that the game creates at every point. Those logs give detail as to how the characters feel, even if it wasn't portrayed that well. I still have trouble understanding who is against who and everything. I vastly preferred played Final Fantasy Tactics Advance to this game.
This is where I have to really bash the game. It's a game. The number one feature of the game should be it's playability and enjoyment while doing so. This game fails in the fun department. There's little penalty to failing a battle, therefore try and try until you get through it. The battle mode itself seems like a tedious repetition of button mashing to achieve the goal. And this continues for everything in the game. At least as far as I got. So needless to say, I haven't been playing it much.
What I have enjoyed playing (though I am starting to hate the challenge) is Demon's Souls. Sure, it's very repetitive, but there's a mysterious goal in mind that keeps you wanting to explore more. If you want to read more of my review for it, please check out the review here.
FFXIII Rating: 6.5/10
